Creative Arts Handmade Papermaking workshops with Tim Spencer Tim has been an art teacher for over 30 years in UK and Australia. His interest in printmaking led to the creation of Handmade Paper Source, producing handmade paper products and papermaking equipment. Young and old can learn to make fabulous paper. Tuesday Evening ART with Deb Taylor Deb Taylor is a contemporary abstract artist working from her Ocean Grove home studio. She has taught art for several years in schools and run workshops for adults. She is inspired by colour and the alchemy of art-making. Her painting, collage and drawing work is abstract but connected to and inspired by the shapes, colours and patterns found in the natural world.
Collage Art 3 weeks x 2 hours a week with Deb Taylor This series of workshops will introduce you to a range of approaches to making artworks from collage. It is an art form that has been practised since the early 20th century. It is a fun and accessible way to create art - great for those who think they can’t draw!! Work with images, colour, paint and a range of materials. Materials list will be sent on enrolment.
Gelliplate Printing with Deb Taylor Suitable for all levels. Participants will learn the art of Gelliplate printing. This is a really easy and fun way to make mono prints with acrylic paint. Saturday Afternoon Contemporary Art Workshops with Deb Taylor Introduction to Abstract Art and its application in art making Suitable for beginners and those with experience looking to extend and refresh their practice. Friday Morning Art Classes with Ryan Brearley Ryan has taught at QNH for many years and continues to dedicate his classes to equipping students with the knowledge and skills to create their own work through practical exercises and demonstrations. Ryan teaches in the tradition of Australian tonalism.
Oil Painting Techniques - 3 hours x 4 weeks Suitable for beginners to intermediate. Explore different ways of working with oil based paints. Have you ever wanted to try painting with oils and didn’t know where to start or simply want to know more? You will also learn about studio safety and some of the technical aspects of oils. Water mixable oils will also be suitable for this class. Either bring materials you already have, or pay a materials fee of $40 and Ryan will provide you with what you need.
Watercolour Techniques – 3 hours x 4 weeks Suitable for beginners, this introductory course will cover basic techniques and technical aspects to begin your journey into watercolour. Looking at artists from the golden age of watercolour in the 18th and 19th Century, participants will be exposed to some of the methods these masters used and how you can incorporate them into your own work. Saturday Music Workshops with Claire Chatfield Claire studied at Lismore’s Northern Rivers Conservatorium and has recorded and performed works across a range of world music styles. Her workshops are inclusive, participatory and open to all levels.
World Music Workshop with Claire Chatfield You will be doing some rhythm exercises based on different world music styles and learning some traditional folk tunes in different time signatures. The focus will be on Eastern European, Klezmer (a traditional Jewish style of music) and Celtic traditions. All comers welcome to this inclusive workshop.

Together we will explore how music touches us on a deeply emotional level and creates powerful wellbeing effects. Shinrin-Yoku – Japanese Forest Bathing for Wellbeing (June 5) Forest Bathing means being in the presence of nature for wellbeing purposes. This Japanese tradition is a daily evidence-based way to reduce stress levels, build immunity and enhance our lives. This interactive session will explore the Japanese indigenous wisdom of immersion in nature. Participants will find it both enlightening and highly practical and be inspired to create their own nature connected routines going forward for health and wellbeing.

Genealogy - Discover the story of your family history with Mark Hoysted Genealogy is a fascinating activity requiring only a large dose of curiosity and some time, to find out about your family. Whether you are just starting out or if you are already researching, this 6 week course will provide you with all the tools to trace your family history and ancestors. Genealogists have calculated that if you trace your family back for 10 generations starting with your parents, you will discover a total of 2,046 ancestors – all directly related to you! Who knows who is waiting to be discovered amongst those many ancestors. Mark has taught genealogy to groups on the Bellarine for the past three years. He has a passion for researching and writing history and encouraging others to learn about their family histories.

Shedding the Blues is an innovative project assisting mature age men from across the Bellarine Peninsula (and beyond) to connect through a shared love of music. Open to all genders, the group’s focus is on the health and wellbeing of men who are nearing or have reached retirement age. Boomerang Bags Boomerang Bags volunteers help mark out and cut materials, pin, iron, stamp and sew. No experience required. Volunteers can also collect the kit and make the bags at home. Donations of fabric also most welcome. We have made over 1000 bags so far!
