September 28th – October 27th 2024
As long as stories have been told, there has been a picture to go with it. Whatever form that picture takes, whether in our minds, on a wall, on paper or in sculpture, images provide a powerful response and help illuminate the words from which they arise. The new exhibition ‘Illuminating the Word’ explores the many aspects of illustrations, from their beauty, extensive range and forms and techniques of creating them. The exhibition explores the power behind illustrations to illuminate a story, often telling a story just as powerfully as words can. See works by illustrators Patsy Bush, Michelle Conn, Francine Olge, Craig Smith, Anne Spudvilas and many other contributing artists, from school students to professional book illustrators. We welcome you to the official launch of Illuminating the Word on Sunday September 29th, 2-4pm at the Queenscliffe Neighbourhood House. The exhibition runs from September 28th to October.27th 2024. In proud support of the Queenscliff Literary Festival. Join Craig Smith in his workshop Drawing a Story on Sunday October 20th at the Queenscliff Neighbourhood House. 11.30am-1pm. Contact the QNH for more details. We hope to see you at the gallery!
